Waiter Job Description

Waiters assist restaurant patrons by taking their orders, serving meals, and preparing bills at the end of the table’s meal. They also ensure customer satisfaction by checking if diners are happy with their meals and providing assistance if needed.

To be successful as a waiter, one must have endurance to stand for long hours, patience with customers, and the ability to anticipate customer needs while providing service in a friendly and professional manner.

Waiter Responsibilities:

• Greet customers and hand out menus
• Take meal and beverage orders from customers and place them in the kitchen
• Make menu recommendations and inform patrons of any specials
• Deliver meals and beverages to tables once prepared
• Check that customers are satisfied with their meal
• Prepare the bill for tables when requested
• Cash up bills and ensure the correct amount has been paid
• Administer change to tables if needed
