The ideal Junior Data Scientist candidate will possess foundational knowledge of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and deep learning, with strong skills in traditional statistical learning and data analysis. They will support the team in developing solutions for data extraction within the insurance industry, working with cloud platforms like Azure and programming in Python. This role involves engaging with generative AI models to assist in solution development. The candidate will collaborate with team members, contributing to data analysis and documentation tasks. They should demonstrate effective communication skills, manage their time well, and show eagerness to learn and adapt to varying technical challenges under the guidance of senior and mid-level colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering production quality solutions for data extraction, classification, triaging, routing, and search
• Explore and analyze data programmatically to derive insights and convey findings to team members
• Support data labeling and validation tasks using both manual and AI-driven methods
• Collaborate with team members to evaluate model performance and apply necessary adjustments
• Communicate effectively with senior team members to understand project requirements and deliverables
• Contribute to technical and non-technical documentation of solution

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field
• Exposure to NLP and deep learning concepts, with proficiency in traditional statistical learning and data analysis
• Familiarity with Python programming and basic version control using git
• Experience working with cloud computing platforms is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and communicate technical concepts clearly

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with personal projects or school projects that demonstrate technical ability
• Experience in insurance
• Understanding of ethical considerations in AI
