Key Responsibilities

Beverage Preparation

  • Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including espresso-based drinks (lattes, cappuccinos, etc.), filtered coffee, tea, and specialty/seasonal drinks, adhering to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Master the use of espresso machines, grinders, and other brewing equipment.
  • Perform essential tasks like weighing/grinding coffee beans, pulling consistent espresso shots, and steaming/texturing milk (including latte art).
  • Serve prepared food items like pastries and light snacks, where applicable.


Customer Service & Sales

  • Greet and welcome customers in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Accurately take orders and process payments using a POS (Point of Sale) system/cash register.
  • Provide personalized recommendations, describe menu items, and upsell products/specials.
  • Handle customer inquiries, concerns, or complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the café.


Operations & Maintenance

  • Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized work area, including the bar, equipment, and customer areas.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, such as cleaning equipment (espresso machine back-flushing, grinder cleaning), restocking supplies, and preparing tools/ingredients.
  • Monitor and manage stock levels for coffee beans, milk, and other supplies, reporting needs to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.


Required Skills and Qualifications

Technical/Hard Skills

  • Proficiency in operating espresso machines and grinders.
  • Knowledge of various coffee types, origins, roasts, and brewing methods.
  • Basic or advanced latte art skills (often a strong plus).
  • Cash handling and POS system operation.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and recipes.


Soft Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong focus on providing exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail to ensure quality and accurate orders.
  • Reliability, teamwork, and a positive attitude.


Minimum Requirements

  • Often no formal qualifications are required, but experience in F&B or a relevant training course (e.g., SCA certification) is a strong advantage.
